TFM for industrial development: system installed at Alexandria University in Egypt
Tropical Food Machinery (TFM) has taken part in major international project, as winner of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) call.
In December 2025, the TFM tomato processing plant was installed at the Faculty of Agriculture of Alexandria University, Egypt. The project is part of the Tomato Learning and Service Center (TLSC) programme, financed by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) and implemented by UNIDO.
UNIDO is committed to projects in developing countries. The aim is to strengthen local economies by providing specialized training and enabling the production of market-ready finished goods. Specifically, the TLSC programme focuses on innovation, technical consultancy, and training initiatives in the field of tomato processing.
The TFM plant consists of two multi-purpose production lines designed according to the requirements of the research institution. The first line is dedicated to receiving, peeling, and dicing, with a processing capacity of up to 500 kg/h of infeed fresh tomatoes. The second line allows the formulation of tomato concentrate and packaging in jars, bottles, or cans.
The plant will play a key role in specialists and technicians training, as well as in the research and development of innovative production processes. This project represents an important step in TFM’s long-standing collaboration with universities and training institutions. In this context, TFM offers solutions such as the ➤ Mini Industry 200 Line – a compact and versatile multi-fruit solution – or customized plants designed to meet specific client requirements.
