Italian Agrifood in Zimbabwe: new opportunities in the Tomato Processing Industry
The 2026 edition of the Africa on the Road project has come to an end with the meeting in the southern part of the Continent.
Following visits to Senegal and Kenya, Tropical Food Machinery took part in the third presentation event of the “Italian Agrifood Technology for Africa” project, held in Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe, on 17th to 18th September.
The event, organised by the Italian Embassy in collaboration with the Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI), provided TFM with the opportunity to engage with both local institutions – particularly the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Agricultural Rural Development Authority (ARDA) – and local businesses operating in a market offering significant opportunities, especially in the field of tomato processing.

Zimbabwe has significant production potential and is showing a willingness to revitalise existing processing facilities while investing in the development of a solid and efficient tomato processing industry. The growth of the food processing sector can help maximise the value of agricultural production, reduce losses caused by production surpluses, and enable the export of processed products to major international markets .
Tropical Food Machinery is ready to put its expertise and technology in food processing to work, designing complete processing lines capable of turning fresh crops into high-value-added products. The company has many references across the African continent, with tailor-made processing plants developed to meet the needs of different Customers, from small cooperatives to large-scale producers.
As part of the collaboration with Cibus Tec, the Harare event sets the stage for the upcoming edition of the trade fair, scheduled to take place in Parma from 27 to 30 October 2026, where TFM will showcase its solutions for food and agricultural processing.
